Research shows that meeting regularly with a counsellor or psychotherapist at times in our life when we are low, anxious or overwhelmed can make a real difference to the way we feel.

Sessions

What happens in therapy?

Nina Will Counselling in UK Where do sessions take place

The first session

This first session will last about an hour and is an opportunity for us to meet and for you to tell me a little bit about yourself and what brings you to therapy. We can then decide if therapy is the best way for you to seek help at this time and if so, how we might best work together. There will also be a chance for you to ask any questions you might have about therapy.

Ongoing therapy

Once we have decided how to work together, we will agree a regular time to meet. This will be on the same day, at the same time, each week and will last 50 minutes. It is important you can come every week so we have the best chance possible of bringing about the changes you seek. Our sessions will be a time for you to focus on what feels most important – whether that changes from week to week or becomes different explorations of the same issue. Whatever you bring will be treated respectfully and in confidence.

How long will therapy take?

The length of time you decide to have therapy for will depend on your situation and how you are feeling. It may be that after just a few sessions you begin to feel better and more able to cope or it may be that your goals are more complex and you feel you would benefit from us working together for longer.
